Have a leaky roof and not sure how you can afford repairs?
Earlier this week, Montgomery County began accepting applications for the Whole Home Repairs Program. Individual grants (not loans) are available up to $50,000 to address safety concerns, improve energy or water efficiency, and make units accessible for individuals with disabilities, according to the press release.
Due to limited funding at this time, the county plans to issue grants to at least 100-150 applicants. Eligibility is based on income and the application window closes April 12, 2024.
More information, as well as links to the online and paper applications, may be found here.
Initially funded with $125 million by the federal American Rescue Plan under Pres. Biden, the WHRP was adopted by almost all of Pennsylvania's 67 counties. Gov. Josh Shapiro included a $50 million request for a new round of funding in his 2024-25 budget request. State Sen. Nikil Saval was the prime sponsor and architect of WHRP. He recently joined a Spotlight PA panel on the topic, which included questions from the audience and an overview of the program.
