Public Comment Open for County's '26 Budget

Government budgets are documents that express our collective will and values. And the values being reflected at the federal and county levels are in stark contrast right now. 


This week, Montgomery County residents will have a few opportunities for input on the county’s 2026 budget. For housing advocates, it occurs in the wake of a major announcement from the Trump Administration and the federal Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) that will cut housing assistance programs.

Former county commissioner, Gov. Josh Shapiro, announced a lawsuit on Nov. 25 to stop these changes to what is known as the Continuum of Care.


To comment and listen to the county budget hearing: 

  • Thursday, Dec. 4 - Montgomery County budget hearings, 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., will be held at One Montgomery Plaza in Norristown and online. Input and feedback are encouraged on the 2026 spending plan for our county, which is responsible for human services, community development, emergency shelters, public health, and much more. Participation is offered both in-person and virtually. Please note the instructions for public comment if you attend the virtual meeting.
